The Vignettes
Sophie Leitner had built quite a strong reputation after beating her husband. Not one for cards and games at all she decided that she might surprise her husband one evening. He was so engrossed in his game he had never realized his wife had joined for a game.
Since that night a slow legend had been growing of the woman that bested her own husbands luck and in fact stole it some even said.
People would practically push and drag her to the table in good cheer and beer trying to convince her to play again, and every time she made off with everyone's winnings. Some players wanted their money back, others wanted to see the phenomenon that was this woman who played with the boys and won every time.
Naturally for Braum it was bittersweet, he was no longer the card king that he once was, on the other hand his wife was winning handsomely all the same.
A few weeks later much to his surprise he had heard of her name beyond that of the Apartment. He would hear stories of her being ushered from place to place at the behest of other tenants. Only to win, against not only good players, but the cheats and con artists of Paris.
A month had passed after a hard day’s work, and he had passed a familiar face on the street. Alphonse DeGrange putting up another advertising poster.
"Hello Alphonse..."
"Why hello Braun!"
"How's business?"
"Just put up the last one for the day!"
Alphonse departed with the tip of his hat, not giving his work a second thought.
Looking up to take the in the poster Braun nearly fell over to see.
[SOPHIA THE SPACTACULAR!]
[Witness the Tournament of Greats, ushering in the greatest century of the ages!]
Braun's wife was depicted as a Greek Goddess with a glorious halo, a fan of hearts and diamonds, spread in her open hands. Spades and Clubs forming without question, a path to her victory.
